The AdventureELEVATE North America travel trade show was held in Denver, USA, at the end of May.
Destination Manager Navarana Bidstrup participated and represented the Qeqertalik region with Destination Diskobay, alongside Visit Greenland, Explore North Greenland, Arctic Circle Business, and other private tour operators from Greenland.
There were several exciting sessions and meetings to attend.
Representatives from some of the world’s leading travel destinations gathered to share experiences, challenges, and knowledge.
One of the sessions focused on affiliate marketing, presented as a growing opportunity – particularly for those working in the adventure tourism sector. It was highlighted how businesses, through partnerships and targeted marketing, can reach their audiences more cost-effectively without spending large amounts on advertising.
It was also pointed out that travel organizers are increasingly using YouTube to find information and inspiration when selecting new destinations.
A particularly powerful session addressed how companies can handle situations involving accidents or crises. This included how to prepare for legal aspects and challenges using realistic scenarios.
The Destination Manager shared the following about the event:
“In addition to participating in the scheduled sessions, it was especially important to be present and visibly represent Destination Diskobay from Kommune Qeqertalik. Greenland is currently experiencing increased interest from the American market, and with the new direct flight route between Newark and Nuuk opening in June, attending this event has been crucial.
The aim was to highlight that Greenland offers far more than Nuuk – and to draw attention to the region’s many opportunities: unique experiences, local tour operators, accommodations, and practical information sought by travel agencies and stakeholders. In this way, the Disko Bay area is positioned as a visible and accessible destination in the international market.
A big thank you to Visit Greenland and Nalik Ventures for their support in covering the participation fee – their contribution has helped make it possible to promote Qeqertalik as an international destination.”
