About us

How can we help?

We offer sparring in all phases of the business development of your company. This applies to new entrepreneurs as well as established and well-run companies. Among other things, we can assist in the development of business plans, budgeting and company form.

Counseling

The Business Council can neither provide grants nor provide loans for the start-up of your business, but we can advise you and tell you what other options you have. In collaboration, we can refer to Innovation Greenland’s support opportunities, which you can access directly from them or through us.

Our Own Sustainability

Along with Destination Diskobay, Qeqertalik Business Council continuously works with sustainability, just as we actively integrate a number of the UN’s World Goals into our activities. We see it as an important societal task that our activities can help ensure sustainable development in our region. It is something that we regularly talk about internally, just as we look at the possibilities for sustainable activities with our partners from the tourism and business community – and we act on it when we can see new potential in relation to fulfilling our role in society.

Our own strategy and our action plans align with the following world goals.

 Goal no. 4: Quality education

  • At the business council, we host courses in marketing, entrepreneurship etc. to ensure skill development for the region’s citizens and businesses.
  • The Business Council has interns and aims for permanent agreements with relevant educational institutions in Greenland and abroad, to ensure the development and training of the next generation – and also to get the latest knowledge in business and tourism anchored in our own organisation.
  • We participate in collaboration with local companies in a primary school project in Aasiaat, where the goal is to inspire children and young people to take an education in our field.
  • At the business council, we invest in training and courses for our employees.

Goal no. 8: Decent work and economic growth

  • We offer courses in competence development. The courses are in entrepreneurship etc.
  • We are working to seasonally expand tourism activities in the region, e.g. through the facilitation of concrete city strategies and marketing plans in collaboration with the region’s players.
  • Along with the municipality and business community, we meet quarterly to create a better common framework for growth and opportunities.
  • We provide input to the municipality’s work with tourism concessions in the region.

Goal no. 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure

  • Preparation and improvement of the infrastructure in the region’s cities through developing signs for attractions etc.
  • Development and updating of city and hiking maps in the region. This also includes development of maps of the fjord systems. Together, it ensures the safety of tourists and sustainable travel in our region.
  • Collaboration with Avannaata Municipality on the micro- and macro-infrastructure development towards the new Atlantic airport in Ilulissat.
  • Digitization of tourism products, including QR code signs, digital product catalog from the region and competence development within digital marketing
  • Seeking new collaborations through the PDAC fair with mining industry actors.

Goal no. 11: Sustainable cities and communities

  • As part of our action plans, we collaborate with the Qeqertalik municipality on waste management, including the involvement of citizens and businesses – among other things through facilitating the annual city clean-up day “Saligaatsoq”.
  • Advicing business operators regarding the sustainable expansion of products and physical materials. Competence development of own employees within CSR.
  • We cooperate with the local associations, just as we participate in several associations ourselves.

  • Collaboration with the cruise industry organization AECO on sustainable development within cruise tourism in Disko Bay through community specific guidelines.
