This October, a Greenlandic delegation of business leaders, municipal representatives, and tourism professionals is traveling to Alaska on an inspiration tour organized by PT Capital in collaboration with Huna Totem Corporation.
The purpose of the trip is to exchange knowledge and gain inspiration for developing business and tourism in Greenland – with a particular focus on cruise ports, resorts, and local partnerships.
The tour, taking place October 13–17, 2025, includes visits to several destinations such as Juneau, Hoonah, Anchorage, Whittier, Girdwood, and Seward. Participants will meet with local mayors, business leaders, and organizations that have worked for years to create growth and sustainable development in Arctic communities.
The program features visits to Juneau’s port and tramway, a tour of Hoonah’s Icy Strait Point – a leading example of locally owned tourism – and meetings with representatives from the Denali Commission and the Alaska Tourism Industry Association.
Participants also have the opportunity to attend the Alaska Federation of Natives Conference, where panel discussions on tourism development in Greenland will take place, moderated by Hugh Short from PT Capital, with panelists Pitsi Høegh from Greenland Sagalands, Klaus Dupont Iversen from Hotel Aurora, and Gerth P. Olsen from Qeqertalik Business Council.
The journey is part of a broader collaboration aimed at strengthening sustainable business and tourism development in Greenland, inspired by Alaska’s long-standing experience in fostering local ownership and partnerships between Indigenous communities and the business sector.
