In weeks 31 and 32, Qeqertalik Business Council welcomed a visit from our partners at Nalik Ventures, who work daily with business and innovation development nationwide, based in Nuuk.
Arnajaraq Ravnshøj-Davidsen, business advisor for the municipalities of Qeqertalik and Kujataa, travelled to Qasigiannguit, Qeqertarsuaq, and Aasiaat together with her colleague Augusta Lundblad, who works in the Sermersooq region. They were accompanied on the trip by Qeqertalik Business Council’s CEO, Gerth P. Olsen.
The purpose of the visit was to meet with both established businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs who are planning to start their own companies. Two days were allocated in each town, allowing time for start-up discussions, knowledge exchange, and company visits.
From Construction Project to Café in Qasigiannguit
In Qasigiannguit, the team met with, among others, Thomas Hjort from TH Qas Byg ApS, who gave a tour of one of their current renovation projects – a future café in the town. The conversation focused on how Nalik Ventures could contribute with knowledge and guidance during the start-up phase.
“It is incredibly valuable to have direct dialogue with both Nalik Ventures and Qeqertalik Business Council, especially as a new startup in a small town. Their experience and network give us a clear picture of the opportunities and ideas we can draw on,” says Thomas Hjort from TH Qas Byg ApS.
Tourism in Qeqertarsuaq
In Qeqertarsuaq, they met with the award-winning tourism operators from Disko Adventures, Danny Mølgaard and Naja Bjerregaard. They shared insights into their current tourism activities and future plans – including a new office and sales building in the town centre, which will be an ideal meeting point for both visitors and cruise ship passengers.
“Meeting local business owners face-to-face gives us a completely different insight than we can get from reports and emails. We gain a better understanding of their challenges, but also their strengths – and together, we can find solutions that make a real difference,” says Arnajaraq Ravnshøj-Davidsen, business advisor at Nalik Ventures.
New and Big Ideas in Aasiaat
In Aasiaat, meetings were also held with entrepreneurs and business owners – from smaller niche projects to large business ideas with regional potential.
“We encounter many different types of projects, and all deserve equal attention. Every single idea can contribute to growth and vitality in our communities,” says Augusta Lundblad from Nalik Ventures.
Continued Strong Collaboration
The visit was part of the ongoing collaboration between Nalik Ventures and Qeqertalik Business Council, aimed at ensuring a continued focus on business development across the region.
“Personal contact makes a big difference – it allows us to follow developments more closely and offer targeted support where it truly matters,” says Gerth P. Olsen, CEO of QBC.naapiuttarpagut
The plan is for Nalik Ventures to continue visiting the Qeqertalik region to meet directly with local stakeholders – and for the business council in Qeqertalik to remain an active partner in creating even greater progress.
