The Canadian trade fair PDAC has just been held in Toronto. Qeqertalik Business Council actively participated, to show that “Qeqertalik is open for business”.
PDAC is the world’s largest trade fair for mining industry interests, and in that regard a broad delegation from Greenland participated. Up to 65 private and public Greenlandic actors represented, including Naalakkersuisoq for Raw Materials and Naalakkersuisoq for Business.
“Qeqertalik Business Council participated with the aim of meeting and starting collaborations with relevant mining companies that have an interest in our region Qeqertalik, or that already operate here,” says the Business Council’s CEO, Gerth P. Olsen, who participated in Toronto this week. He continues:
“Such a large international trade fair is a good starting point for introducing Qeqertalik as a region. We have had conversations with international actors as well as Greenlandic participants, who have all become wiser about us as a possible partner. ”
New connection to mining company on Disko Island
Among other things, the Business Council has linked up with mining companies that have already been granted licenses on the Disko Island. A collaboration here is highly relevant for the Qeqertalik Business Council and vice versa, as the business council can be available to the mining companies in relation to knowledge of local conditions. The mining company Nikkili Greenland A / S has financing in several phases over the next few years with large international investors such as Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos – see more here.
Qeqertalik Business Council thus showed international and national stakeholders at the PDAC trade fair that Qeqertalik is “open for business”.
