Hotel Arctic and Hotel Ilulissat form the framework for a seminar on the airport expansion in Ilulissat from 28th to 30th October, in which several business and tourist actors from Qeqertalik and Avannaata participate. For the seminar, there are presentations from, among others, Air Greenland, Visit Greenland, Avannaata Kommunia and not least Qeqertalik Business Council and Destination Diskobay, where the expectations up to the airport expansion are presented from the participants’ own views. The region’s participants end the days with a group discussion, where the challenges, opportunities and wishes are presented to the assembly.
The seminar is the first step in the preparation for the airport expansion, where the affected citizens in the regions are involved and consulted on the related new potentials.
“We are really pleased to have the opportunity to participate in the seminar, as it is also very relevant for our region in Qeqertalik that the airport in Ilulissat is expanded. This will no doubt mean that our towns and villages in the future will be visited by even more guests coming directly from Ilulissat. Therefore, we must also make our receiving apparatus ready for the airport expansion, preferably in collaboration with the other operators throughout Disko Bay ”. That’s what Nivé & Frank from Diskobay Tours say.
This seminar is coordinated by Avannaata Kommunia, to which the actors of Qeqertalik were also invited. The next step is expected to be arranged by the Qeqertalik Business Council, where the relay will continue in Qeqertalik from where it left off in Ilulissat. This will be a good starting point for a closer collaboration between the Municipality of Qeqertalik and Avannaata Kommunia, on a common strategy for tourism in the region.
