Last week, a course on basic sustainability and public meetings on tourism were held in Qeqertarsuaq.
During the sustainability course, participants worked with various aspects of sustainability as well as the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. This gave them an understanding of how sustainability can relate to businesses, and they were provided with tools to work with sustainability going forward.
Participants included representatives from the municipality, the Arctic Station, and private actors such as Disko Adventures and Kuannit Art, all of whom contributed actively and with great engagement throughout the course.
At the public meetings on tourism, all citizens were invited.
The events featured both presentations and open dialogues.
Among other topics, potential zoning of the area was discussed.
There were conversations about developing community guidelines for all tourists.
On the final day, there was a presentation on how to develop alternative and unique products for tourists – met with great enthusiasm and lively debate.
A big thank you to everyone who participated – both in the course and at the public meetings
