General assymbly of Qeqertalik Business Council & Destination Diskobay A/S

Qeqertalik Business Council & Destination Diskobay A/S held its Annual General Meeting in Aasiaat on 29 May 2026.

During the meeting, Hanne Kristiansen was re-elected as Chair of the Board, while Julia Pars was re-elected as Vice Chair. The Board is now composed of:

  • Hanne Kristiansen, Chair of the Board – Chosen by owners
  • Julia Pars, Vice Chair of the Board – chosen by owners
  • Hans Aronsen, chosen by owners
  • Søren Hansen, representative of the Greenland Business Association (GE) local branch in Aasiaat/Kangaatsiaq
  • Hans Arkalo Lyberth-Didriksen, representative of the Greenland Business Association (GE) local branch in Qasigiannguit
  • Danny Mølgaard, appointed by the Greenland Business Association (GE) local branch in Qeqertarsuaq

A Year of Strong Activity

The Annual Report for 2025 was presented and approved at the meeting. The year was characterized by a high level of activity, with a continued focus on business development, advisory services, skills development, and tourism development throughout the Municipality of Qeqertalik.

Throughout the year, the company carried out several regional outreach tours in cooperation with partners including Nalik Ventures, the Greenland Business Association, and Grønlandsbanken. These initiatives aimed to strengthen dialogue with local businesses and support sustainable economic growth across the municipality.

In addition, workshops and public meetings were held on topics such as the new Tourism Act, tourism development opportunities, and the ongoing work related to the future national park in the region.

Focus on Development and New Opportunities

The Board and management are looking ahead to an ambitious 2026, during which work will continue on several major development initiatives. Key priorities include advancing flagship projects that can strengthen the region’s economy and supporting the establishment of the national park, which is expected to create new opportunities for tourism, business development, and local growth.

At the same time, the General Meeting highlighted the challenges currently facing the business community in Aasiaat. Polar Raajat’s shrimp processing plant is expected to close later this year, a development that could have significant consequences for employment and economic activity in the region.

Qeqertalik Business Council & Destination Diskobay A/S will therefore continue its efforts to support business development, encourage new investments, and help create sustainable growth and employment opportunities throughout the Municipality of Qeqertalik.
