Course for 12 pax vessels

Teaching takes place in Greenlandic

Danish Maritime Authority's order no. 956 on small vessels carrying up to 12 passengers, the driver of a vessel with a dimension number of 20 or more and vessels with a dimension number below 20 with a propulsion power of more than 100 KW must be trained in sailing the type of vessel in question.

The course gives permission to be a driver on vessels under 15 meters that sail with up to 12 passengers along Greenland's coasts, subject to sailing experience with smaller vessels that sail with up to 12 passengers, equivalent vessels or larger vessels.

Requirements for admission to the course: At the start of the course, the student must bring a medical certificate for seafarers and document that he is fit for ship service and fit to lookout. According to Ministry of Trade and Industry's order 233 of 05/03/2015 on crew determination for small commercial vessels and Greenlandic fishing vessels carrying up to 12 passengers on domestic voyages in Denmark and along Greenland's coasts, the driver must be fit to look out and, according to Imarsionermik Ilinniarfik's requirements for participation in the practical parts of the course the trainee must also be found suitable for ship service.

After the course and when you can document at least 90 days of sailing time as well as other documentation required as covered by executive order no. 956 of 26 September 2012 on smaller vessels carrying up to 12 passengers or larger vessels, you must apply for a maritime certificate from the Danish Maritime Authority.

The course takes place on Greenlandic GMDSS LRC teaching and English reports are used for tests.

The course is held as an AMA course

Deregistration of participants can be done against payment of an administration fee up to 30 days before the start of the course.
For deregistration of participants less than 30 days before the start of the course, a deregistration fee equal to 50% of the course fee as well as an administration fee is charged.
For deregistration of participants less than 10 days before the start of the course, a deregistration fee equal to 100% of the course fee as well as an administration fee is charged.
Cancellation due to the influence of the weather on the instructor's journey will not result in costs in relation to the offer for the customer.
In addition to the above fees, the customer covers the expenses that may have been incurred by Imarsiornermik Ilinniarfik for travel board and lodging when canceling.
In the event of cancellation of an entire course at the customer's instigation, the customer must pay the expenses such as administration planning as well as any travel expenses incurred. has resulted for Imarsiornermik Ilinniarfik.
Costs in connection with deregistration are charged by the employer Majoriaq or the labor market office, depending on who appears as the employer on the registration

Application for subsidy

It is possible to apply for a subsidy for the course of DKK 10,000 if you are a citizen of the Municipality of Qeqertalik, with the latest application deadline of 17 July 2023 (new date). Your application will be assessed by an application committee that approves grants to a maximum of six applicants. All applicants will be contacted by 18 July 2023 at the latest, with information on whether they have had their grant application approved or rejected. The application form can be found below.
